There will be 2 games. ORES State Softball Tournament Saturday, Sept. 28th at FireLake Softball Complex in Shawnee. Briggs will begin pool play at 10:00 against Grove and then at 11:00 against Brushy. 3rd-8th cross country Wednesday, Sept. 25th at Maryetta. Starts at 9:30. Bus will leave Briggs at approximately 8:15 that morning. 4-H meeting Wednesday, Sept. 25th at 3:30. Everyone is welcome to attend and learn more about 4-H. 5th-8th football Thursday against Grand View. This game will be held at Tahlequah High School and starts at 5:00. Robotics team practice times: Mon. & Tues., Elementary Practice and Wed. & Thurs., Middle School Practice 4:00-5:00 Student of the Month assembly Friday at 8:15 Robotics is taking orders for Briggs Gear t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies. Remember the homeroom class that orders the most will receive a snack basket for their class. Get those orders & money in by Friday!!! Football Recap: 7th/8th Keys played the Braves in 11 man football on eighth grade recognition night for Briggs. They got all they wanted from the home team. Jevon Dick caught a 42 yard touchdown pass from Layne Morgan to give the Braves a 6-0 lead. Brenden Holden then had a 10 yard run for a touchdown and added a 2 point run to make it 14-0 Briggs. Daylin Cross had a TD rec, from Layne Morgan and a 2 point catch to make it 22-0 at the half. In the 3rd quarter Layne Morgan had a spectacular TD run. Gavyn Walker caught a wide open 2 point catch off of a Layne Morgan pass to finish the Braves scoring at 30-0. Keys would add a late touchdown, as everyone on the roster got to play for Briggs. Final 30-8, Briggs moves to 5-1 with Moffett forfeit. Great play from Logan Ryals, 5th grader played up, started on the offensive line. Reese Carpenter got a big hit on defense and Jackson Crow had his first interception. Daylin Cross had a fumble recovery at linebacker. Team had 6 sacks. Briggs plays Grandview next Thursday at Tahlequah HS.

Football recap: 5th/6th Briggs pulled off the big come from behind tie on Thursday. After falling behind 14-0, Josh Meigs got on the board to pull Briggs within 14-8 with a 12 yard run. Alex Ryals added the 2 pointer. With 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter and down 22-8, Alex Ryals had the play of the game as he raced 65 yards to get it to 22-14. Then the Braves got a huge stop on defense and forced a punt. Si Smith then shocked the Rockets with a 55 yard run with 37 seconds left. Alex Ryals tied the game on an option keeper to complete the Comeback victory 22-22. 4th grader, Alex Ryals, got his 1st interception of the year. Great play by Robert Vann, Landon Gruber, Layne Pense and Cale Rhodes.

Football recap! The Briggs Braves 5th/6th football team fell to Zion 32 to 8 on Thursday night. Despite 2 promising drives early, the Braves came away empty handed and trailed 24-0 after the 1st QT. Zion went up 32-0 by the half. Alex Ryals scored on a TD pass from Si Smith. Alex Ryals added the 2 point play to finish the scoring at 32-8. Hardnose plays were made by Robert Vann, Logan Ryals, and Josh Meigs. The 7-8th grade football got their biggest win in the last few years to improve their record to 3-1. It looked like it was going to be a long night as Zion ran 60 yards to go up 8-0 24 seconds in. Then the Braves marched 52 yards on a 10 play drive as Jevan Dick zipped in on a sprint out pass at quarterback. Then added the 2 point on another QB keeper to tie it all up at 8-8. The rest of the game was a dogfight. Briggs held Zion on downs at the 10. The Braves were held and had to punt. The Jets regained the lead as the snap sailed over the punter's head to give Zion a safety and a 10-8 lead going into the half. The second half was a defensive struggle. Both teams punted and each threatened to score. Briggs' hero of the day was Jevan Dick as he caught a 40 yard touchdown catch to give Briggs a 14-10 lead with just over 3 minutes left, that would stand. Great defensive effort by Aiden Walker, Brenden Holden, the Rose Twins, Reese Carpenter, and HighEagle Pratt. Offensively, the line played lights out. Congratulations to the Rose Twins, Logan Dreadfulwater, Gavyn Walker, and HighEagle Pratt. Jevan Dick now has 5 TDs on the year. Layne Morgan now has 7 TD passes on the year. Great job Braves!!!

8th grade softball & football players, please remember to turn in your 8th grade night form to Ms. Ashlock by Tuesday, Sept. 17th. 8th grade recognition night will be Thursday, Sept. 19th between the 5th/6th and 7th/8th football game. Parents need to be at the field by 5:00.

Mini Cheer Practice Wednesday, September 11th 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Congratulations to 4-H members Logan Dreadfulwater, Bryson Childs, Sadie Murphy, Nevaeh Andrade, Julius Forekiller, Cynch Murphy, and Savannah Poteet for participating in the Cherokee County Fair. Briggs 4-H Club brought home several ribbons for their projects and shows. Logan and Nevaeh both placed in their division in the Livestock Skills contest. We had several 1st place projects that will be going to the Tulsa State Fair. Great Job Briggs 4-H Club! Also Congratulations to Mrs. Childs. She entered her M & M party cookies and won 1st place! Way to go everyone!!! Briggs School is so proud of you!

5th-8th softball Tuesday (9/10) against Grand View beginning at 4:00 p.m. The game is at Briggs. 3rd/4th softball Tuesday (9/10) at Briggs beginning at 9:00 a.m. 5th-8th girls if you are interested in playing in a powder puff football game, please sign up in the front office. If you are preordering your pictures, that money is due Tuesday (9/10). There will be an academic team informational meeting Wednesday, Sept. 11th beginning at 4:00 in Ms. Ashlock's room. Any 5th-8th grader interested in being on the academic team should attend this meeting.
